My first impression of the Mapei Fuga Fresca, reminds me of the "white shoe polisher" during school days. At first try, you need squeeze the bottle while pressing the sponge on the tile joints several times. If the flow is not smooth enough, shake the bottle and repeat the process again. Once you have grasp it, you can speed up the work.

I did encounter some difficulties with my tiles sample. First, the original groove lines were deep below the tile surface. And, I have to press the sponge deeper inside to reach the lines. Next, it was equally difficult to paint along the rough tile surfaces.

Other than wet sponge, I do suggest using a wet cloth, especially in removing all the traces from the rough surfaces. Keep rinsing until you are happy seeing just the new groove lines.

It is important to have more than just one coating for a lasting finish. The number of coatings are depending on the existing base colour and also the new grout colour. Example, if the base colour is dark grey, you might need 2-3 coatings of white to cover the shadowing.
